The User Experience of DVD’s
Written by Gijs Huisman on 19/02/2010In this day and age of digital piracy you would say consumers who buy their favorite movies on DVD would deserve a pat on the back and be commended for not just opening the next best bit-torrent site. They should be rewarded with a pleasurable User Experience upon inserting their DVD into their DVD-player.
Funnily, the reality seems to be quite the opposite.
This infographic shows the frustrations of someone who bought a DVD and tried to watch the movie on it. Before there is even a possibility to watch the movie, the consumer is overwhelmed by an avalanche of legal and commercial junk. Pirating the same DVD seems like the better option in this case.

Clearly, this calls for a redesign of the DVD so that movie-watching, without breaking the law, can become a pleasurable experience again.
